Mumbai, August 18, 2024 — A resurfaced interview featuring actress Tanushree Dutta has reignited discussions about her allegations of harassment against filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri. The accusations date back to 2018 when Dutta claimed that Agnihotri made her uncomfortable during the filming of the 2005 crime thriller Chocolate, his directorial debut.

Dutta, who entered Bollywood with the romantic drama Aashiq Banaya Aapne in 2005, recounted her troubling experience while working on Chocolate in an interview with Bollywood Hungama. She revealed that Agnihotri had harassed her on multiple occasions, including an incident where he allegedly yelled at her for arriving five minutes late on set.

“One day, when I was five minutes late to the set, he shouted at me and called me unprofessional,” Dutta said. “I was always the first one on set, often arriving before the lights were even set up. But on this particular day, he was there just to see if I had arrived and berated me in front of everyone.”

Dutta further alleged that Agnihotri would force her to remain on set for the entire day, even when she had no scenes to shoot. She claimed she wasn’t allowed to rest in her van, even in extreme weather conditions. “He would make me sit in those short clothes in front of the entire unit, refusing to let me wear a robe, saying, ‘No, there’s a shot coming up, so take it off.'”

The video clip of Dutta sharing her distressing account has gone viral on social media platforms, particularly after being shared on the Reddit community BollyBlindsNGossip. The clip has sparked renewed conversations about the challenges faced by women in the film industry.

Dutta was last seen in the 2010 film Apartment, while Agnihotri’s most recent release, The Vaccine War, failed to perform at the box office in 2023. The resurfacing of these allegations serves as a reminder of the ongoing conversations about harassment and power dynamics in Bollywood.
