In response to a petition filed by NGOs, co-operative housing societies, and citizens in newly merged villages in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, the Bombay High Court mandated an urgent meeting to address the ongoing water supply issues.

Chaired by Pune Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao, the meeting aimed to review the progress of water supply initiatives and formulate a plan for their swift completion. The next meeting will be held in the first week of January 2024.

Key persons of the meeting that was held today was Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Shekhar Singh, PMC Water Department Chief Engineer Nandakishor Jagtap and other officials.

Concerns raised by citizens from various parts of both cities prompted the Divisional Commissioner to instruct PMC and PCMC officials to conduct on-site assessments, devise area-specific plans, and submit them promptly.

Acknowledging citizens’ written queries and expressions of gratitude for the opportunity to voice their concerns, Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao proposed monthly review meetings instead of the current bi-monthly meetings.
