Maharashtra, March 15, 2026: A significant shift in weather conditions has been observed across Maharashtra, with authorities issuing a 72-hour yellow alert for several regions due to the possibility of unseasonal rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds.

After experiencing intense heat over the past week, with temperatures crossing 40°C in many parts of the state, meteorological officials have now warned of a new weather disturbance expected to affect multiple regions starting March 16. Gusty winds and lightning accompanied by light to moderate rainfall are likely in parts of Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, and Marathwada.

Konkan Region

Hot and humid conditions continue to prevail across the Konkan belt. Weather officials have indicated that the region may witness largely dry conditions in the coming days. However, districts in South Konkan, including Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg, may experience cloudy skies with the possibility of light rainfall.
Meanwhile, Mumbai and the North Konkan region are expected to remain mostly dry on March 16.

Madhya Maharashtra

Temperatures across Pune and other districts in Madhya Maharashtra have slightly declined after the recent heatwave. However, unseasonal weather conditions are now likely to develop. Winds blowing at speeds of 30–40 kmph could bring thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall in some areas. Isolated incidents of hailstorm are also possible.
A yellow alert has been issued for Solapur district on March 16.

Marathwada Region

After enduring a heatwave, districts in Marathwada may now face unseasonal rainfall. Light rain is expected within the next 24 hours in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Hingoli, and Nanded.
Meanwhile, Parbhani, Beed, Latur, and Dharashiv have been placed under a yellow alert due to the possibility of thunderstorms and gusty winds. Hailstorms may occur in isolated areas, prompting authorities to advise farmers to remain cautious. Maximum temperatures in the region are expected to range between 34°C and 38°C.

Vidarbha Region

The risk of unseasonal weather is expected to increase in Vidarbha starting Monday. Strong winds blowing at 30–50 kmph, accompanied by lightning and light to moderate rainfall, are forecast.
Districts including Yavatmal, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, and Gondia have been placed under a yellow alert for the next four days. Other districts may also witness scattered thunderstorms. Maximum temperatures are likely to remain between 38°C and 41°C, with heatwave conditions persisting in some areas.

North Maharashtra

The intensity of heat continues in North Maharashtra. Districts such as Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, and Jalgaon are expected to experience hot and dry weather on March 16, with maximum temperatures likely to range between 37°C and 40°C. Isolated thunderstorms and light rainfall cannot be ruled out in a few areas.

Advisory for Farmers and Residents

After the first half of March saw intense heatwave conditions, the second half of the month is likely to begin with unseasonal weather disturbances. Between March 16 and March 18, several parts of the state could face thunderstorms, gusty winds, and scattered rainfall.

Farmers have been advised to protect harvested crops and fruit orchards from potential damage. Residents are also urged to take precautions as fluctuating temperatures and strong heat conditions may affect health.
