Due to continuous heavy rainfall, the water levels in the river are rising, prompting the municipal corporation to implement necessary precautionary measures to prevent any emergency situations.

Considering the potential risk, residents living near the riverbanks are advised to stay vigilant and avoid entering the riverbed, as urged by Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh.

Following the directives of Additional Commissioner Chandrakant Indalkar, key officials including Chief Security Officer Uday Jarande, Chief Disaster Management Officer Omprakash Bahival, and Special Officer Kiran Gaikwad, along with other relevant officers, are conducting on-site inspections of the city ghats to assess the situation. Municipal teams are closely monitoring settlements near the riverbanks, and emergency services have been deployed in these areas. Given the possibility of water entering homes during an emergency, special teams under the control of regional officers have been designated to relocate riverbank residents to safe locations in case of a flood.

All emergency response systems have been alerted and are ready to act. For residents’ convenience, the municipal corporation has established flood control rooms in all wards and fire stations. Additionally, a central flood control room is operational at the municipal corporation’s main administrative building, functioning 24/7. In an emergency, residents should contact the flood control room. For rescue operations, coordination with NDRF and police will be established. Fire department personnel are patrolling various areas of the city, and the fire brigade is on standby with necessary equipment to respond to any incidents caused by rainfall at night, according to Additional Commissioner Indalkar.
