Punekars can expect a chilly winter ahead as the city’s temperature has started to drop, with the minimum temperature already reaching 12 degrees Celsius. According to meteorologists, the cold wave is expected to intensify further in the coming days.

The temperature drop is attributed to the flow of cold winds from the north, which has caused temperatures to fall across the state. In North Maharashtra, temperatures have dropped below 10 degrees Celsius, with Malin recording a low of 8.3°C, Talegaon 9.1°C, and NDA 10.3°C.

Pune, which experienced a significant rise in temperatures earlier this month, is now witnessing a decline in temperature. The city’s temperature had risen by two to three degrees due to the Fengal cyclone in the Bay of Bengal, which brought moisture into Maharashtra and blocked the northern winds. However, with the cyclone’s effect wearing off, the city is now experiencing a drop in temperature.

An official from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that while the city’s temperature is unlikely to drop to single digits, a noticeable decrease is expected. The weather department has forecast a continued decrease in minimum temperatures across the state, leading to further cold conditions.
