In the past six months, over 1.32 crore electricity consumers in Western Maharashtra have collectively saved ₹27.73 crore by paying their bills promptly. Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) offers a 1% discount to customers who settle their bills within seven days of the billing date. This initiative has benefited an average of 22.04 lakh consumers each month, who save a total of ₹4.62 crore by paying on time.

The availability of various online payment options has further facilitated the timely payment of bills, making it more convenient and secure for consumers to access this discount.

Bhujang Khandar, MSEDCL’s Pune Regional Director, stated, “We encourage consumers to take advantage of these savings by paying their bills before the prompt payment deadline. Additionally, discounts are available for those opting for paperless billing under the ‘Go-Green’ initiative and utilizing digital payment methods.”

According to MSEDCL data, in Pune district alone, 13.52 lakh consumers save ₹3.06 crore monthly through timely payments. Similarly, in Satara, 2.3 lakh consumers save ₹25.29 lakh, while in Solapur, 1.61 lakh consumers save ₹27.49 lakh each month. Kolhapur sees 2.97 lakh consumers saving ₹78.19 lakh, and in Sangli, 1.62 lakh consumers save ₹24.47 lakh monthly by paying their bills within the stipulated period.

This initiative not only encourages consumers to be timely in their payments but also helps them benefit financially.
