Pune: WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, is preparing to introduce several intriguing additions for Android users. These include Channel Alerts, the capability to search for messages based on dates, and a feature that conceals navigation labels and the top bar while scrolling within the application.

As per a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has recently launched the Channel Alerts feature through the WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.23.26.6 update. This feature will soon be made available to all users in the upcoming days.

The report suggests that this new feature aims to enhance the experience of channel users by offering them real-time information regarding the suspension of their channels. Channel administrators can utilize the Channel Alerts feature to stay informed about any violations of WhatsApp’s policies. Additionally, they can also request the social media company to review their suspension by accessing the Channel Alerts screen.

The Channel Alerts feature, as mentioned in the WABetaInfo report, is expected to enhance transparency on the platform. It will enable users to easily identify any issues with their channels and provide clear instructions on how to resolve them.

The social media company is additionally introducing two fresh functionalities on its Android application in the upcoming days:

a) concealing navigation labels and the top app bar while scrolling down the screen, and

b) enabling users to search messages based on the date.

The report highlights that concealing navigation labels and the top app bar is expected to provide users with a larger display of their chats, call logs, community group chats and channels. Additionally, the feature to search messages by date could enhance the efficiency and convenience of browsing chat history and locating specific messages.

Significantly, the messaging service is also interested in integrating with Instagram through a new status update feature. As per a separate report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will soon enable its users to directly share their status updates as stories on Instagram, potentially saving users a considerable amount of time.
