In a startling incident, a 28-year-old domestic help has been accused of stealing two gold bricks, each weighing 1 kg, valued at Rs 1 crore from his employer’s house in Juhu, Mumbai.

The theft occurred at Agarwal House in JVPD, Juhu, where a 76-year-old businessman resides with his family. The accused, Prabhunarayan Mishra, has been working with the family for the past four to five years. According to a complaint filed by Praveen Ghag, another employee of the victim’s family, the theft took place between May 10 and June 20.

Mishra allegedly seized the opportunity when his employer inadvertently left the safe unlocked one day. He stole the gold bricks but continued to work for five more days before quitting his job, citing an excuse.

However, the theft went unnoticed for several days. The employer became suspicious when Mishra abruptly resigned. Upon checking the safe, the family discovered the gold bricks were missing. Given that Mishra was one of the few outsiders with access to the elderly couple’s room and his sudden departure, the family filed a police complaint.
