The death of 33-year-old actor-model and influencer Twisha Sharma in Bhopal has triggered a major investigation after her family accused her husband and in-laws of dowry harassment, mental torture and forced abortion.
The death of actor-model and social media influencer Twisha Sharma has sparked nationwide attention after she was found dead at her in-laws’ residence in Bhopal earlier this month.
Twisha, who was originally from Noida in Uttar Pradesh, was found hanging at her husband’s house in the Katara Hills area of Bhopal on May 12. She was 33 years old.
According to reports, Twisha had married Bhopal-based lawyer Samarth Singh in December 2025 after the two reportedly met through a dating app in 2024.
Who Was Twisha Sharma?
Twisha Sharma was known for her work as a model, influencer and actor. In 2012, she reportedly won the “Miss Pune” title and later worked in films including Mugguru Monagallu (2021) and Zara Sambhal Ke (2018).
Apart from the entertainment industry, she was also academically accomplished and held an MBA degree. Before marriage, she had reportedly worked for a Delhi-based company for several years.
Actor Dheekshit Shetty, who worked with Twisha in Mugguru Monagallu, expressed shock over her death. He described her as hardworking, passionate and full of life.
Family Levels Serious Allegations
Twisha’s family has accused her husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh, a retired judge, of mentally harassing her.
According to the family, Twisha was allegedly pressured into undergoing an abortion despite being around two months pregnant. They also claimed that her character was questioned repeatedly, causing severe emotional distress.
Relatives further alleged that Twisha wanted to leave Bhopal and return to Noida shortly before her death. Family members said they had spoken to her on the phone until around 10 pm on the night of the incident.
The post-mortem report reportedly mentioned multiple injury marks on her body before death, raising further suspicions and intensifying demands for a deeper investigation.
Police Investigation Intensifies
Bhopal police have formed a six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case.
Officials said the family has accused the in-laws of murder and dowry-related harassment. The investigation is currently examining allegations of mental torture, forced abortion and domestic abuse.
Retired judge Giribala Singh has reportedly received anticipatory bail from a Bhopal court, while the anticipatory bail plea of Samarth Singh was scheduled for hearing.
The case has generated widespread discussion on social media, with many users demanding a transparent and thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Twisha Sharma’s death.
