A peaceful Sunday morning in Gurugram turned terrifying when a woman out on a walk was viciously attacked by a pet Husky inside a posh residential complex near Golf Course Road. The shocking incident, caught on CCTV and now widely circulated on social media, has reignited public concern over pet safety and regulation in gated communities.

The attack took place around 7 a.m. when the woman, accompanied by two others, was strolling along a footpath inside the society. A resident walking her Husky on a leash approached from the opposite direction. Without warning, the dog suddenly lunged at the woman, knocking her down and biting her hand.

The assault lasted nearly 15 seconds. Despite the dog owner’s frantic attempts to restrain it, the Husky refused to let go. Bystanders rushed in, some even kicking the dog to force it off the victim. The woman suffered deep bite wounds and scratches on her arm and was immediately taken to a hospital. She was discharged later after treatment.

The disturbing footage has sparked a wave of anger and fear—not just in Gurugram, but across the Delhi-NCR region—over rising pet-related attacks. Residents are now questioning the adequacy of pet regulations in residential areas, demanding stricter leash laws and clearer accountability for dog owners.

This latest incident follows a growing pattern of violent dog attacks across India. In a separate recent tragedy, a 55-year-old man in Delhi died after being mauled by stray dogs during a morning walk, prompting nationwide concern and legal scrutiny.

Congress MP Karti Chidambaram has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to constitute a national task force to address what many now see as a public safety crisis. Meanwhile, local police have launched an investigation into the Gurugram case based on the viral footage, and authorities are expected to review pet policies in the residential society involved.
