Woman Sarpanch Impresses With Fluent English Speech Before IAS Officer Tina Dabi
A woman sarpanch from Rajasthan’s Barmer district has gained widespread attention after delivering an impressive speech in fluent English during an official event, leaving IAS officer Tina Dabi and the audience astonished. The video of the event has since gone viral on social media, earning applause for the village leader’s language skills.
Sarpanch Sonu Kanwar, dressed in traditional Rajasthani attire, welcomed District Collector Tina Dabi on stage during the event. In the video, Kanwar is heard addressing the gathering confidently, beginning her speech by expressing her honor in welcoming Dabi. She also highlighted important issues such as water conservation, which was met with cheers and applause from the crowd, including Dabi herself.
“I am glad to be part of this day. First of all, I welcome our collector Tina ma’am. Being a woman, it’s an honor to welcome Tina ma’am,” Kanwar said during her speech. The sarpanch’s fluent English and poise made a significant impression on those present.
Tina Dabi, who assumed the role of Barmer’s District Collector earlier this month, gained national attention when she topped the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination in 2015. Known for her administrative skills, Dabi previously served in Jaisalmer and Jaipur. Her reaction during the sarpanch’s speech—captured on camera—further fueled interest in the viral video.
The event has drawn praise for the sarpanch’s confidence and communication abilities, underscoring the growing participation of women in leadership roles across India’s rural areas.
