Women’s Day Celebrations at Western Avenue Society, Wakad – Health Camp, Cultural Performances, and Felicitation of Women Achievers

Wakad – The Western Avenue Senior Citizens Association celebrated International Women’s Day (March 8) with enthusiasm through various events and initiatives. The day began with a comprehensive health check-up camp for both men and women, organized in collaboration with the Birla Group.

Cultural Performances and Opening Ceremony

The afternoon session commenced with the worship of Bharat Mata’s portrait. The association’s women members then presented a self-composed welcome song and a Powada (a traditional Marathi ballad) in honor of women.

The program’s opening remarks were delivered by the association’s vice president, Mrs. Snehal Ghosalkar, who highlighted the significance of Women’s Day and acknowledged the contributions of women to society. This was followed by an introduction of the chief guests by the association’s secretary, Mr. Khanderao Kulkarni.

Felicitation of Dignitaries

The association honored its guiding pillars, Mr. Rambhau Wakadkar and Mrs. Shrutitai Wakadkar, along with Mrs. Vrushalitai Maral, President of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Senior Citizens Federation. In their speeches, Mr. Wakadkar and Mrs. Maral emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment and their role in social service.

Special Recognitions and Awards

  • Members celebrating their birthdays in March and women above 75 years of age were specially felicitated by the association’s coordinator, Mr. Anand Tayade.
  • The association honored its women and men doctors for their service, with Mr. Milind Banginwar presenting the awards. A special appeal was made to them to assist society in times of medical emergencies.
  • Generous donors who contributed to the association in cash or kind were recognized by the association’s treasurer, Mr. Ganjewar.
  • Journalists were also appreciated for their support, with Mr. Sanjay Ghosalkar presenting them with roses as a token of gratitude.

Inspirational Lecture and Cultural Program

Mrs. Rohinitai Patwardhan, Principal of MIT, delivered an inspiring lecture on the topic “The Concept of a Prosperous Life.”

The association’s president, Mr. Purushottam Govind Godbole, expressed gratitude to all attendees.

The event concluded with a musical performance by the artists of Rhythm Culture Group, delighting the audience. Special appreciation was extended to Mr. Kanade and Mr. Gade for their contribution to the event.

The program was skillfully hosted by Mrs. Shobha Wadekar, and the celebrations ended with a community meal.

The entire day was dedicated to honoring and appreciating women’s contributions, making it a memorable celebration.
