Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that construction is already underway on a new high-speed highway connecting Mumbai, Pune, and Bengaluru. This ambitious project will slash travel time between Mumbai and Pune to just 90 minutes and reduce Pune–Bengaluru travel time to five hours.
Gadkari revealed that the new expressway will begin from the Atal Tunnel in Mumbai and link to the proposed Pune Ring Road, before extending towards Bengaluru. Speaking at an event in Pune, he said, “The work has already started. I don’t have time to lay the foundation stone,” emphasizing urgency and progress over formalities.
Meanwhile, in Andhra Pradesh, Gadkari recently inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 29 National Highway projects covering 272 km, with an investment of over ₹5,233 crore. The event in Mangalagiri was attended by Andhra CM N Chandrababu Naidu, Union Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, and others.
