Pune: 26 Kg Cannabis Found In SUV, Repeat Offender Arrested In Major Anti-Drug Operation
Pune, August 6, 2025: The Anti-Narcotics Cell-1 of Pune Crime Branch has arrested a notorious repeat offender for selling ganja (cannabis) in the Mantarwadi, Katraj Road area. A total of ₹21.16 lakh worth of contraband and property, including 26 kg of ganja, a Mahindra Thar SUV, and a mobile phone, were seized during the operation.
The arrest was made on August 4, 2025, during routine police patrolling near Metro Motors on a public road. Officers noticed a black Mahindra Thar parked suspiciously, with a man seated inside. Upon inspecting the vehicle, police found 15 packets of cannabis weighing 26.80 kg packed in yellowish-green nylon sacks placed on the back seat. The drugs are estimated to be worth approximately ₹5.36 lakh.

In addition to the drugs, police confiscated the SUV and a mobile phone, taking the total seizure to ₹21.16 lakh.
The arrested individual has been identified as Anil alias Anna Subhash Rakh, a repeat offender with a criminal record. A case has been registered against him at Fursungi Police Station under NDPS Act Sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(C).
Police have initiated further investigation into the matter.
