Stricter monitoring begins as RPF targets vandalism inside train toilets

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Indian Railways have issued a stern warning to passengers writing names, phone numbers or love notes on the walls of train toilets.

This behaviour is considered a form of vandalism and a violation of cleanliness norms under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The campaign aims to maintain hygiene and preserve the condition of coaches across the country.

As per Sakal, Officials say that writing on the walls, whether inside or outside the toilet area is causing damage to new coaches, including those equipped with modern facilities.

According to the RPF, offenders may have the number traced back, and legal action will follow against those found responsible.

The Ministry of Railways has recorded 84,184 missions under the cleanliness drive so far, with special focus on stations, coaches and workplace areas.

Passengers are advised to avoid any such marking or scratching in train toilets.

The RPF has made it clear that apart from fines, the matter may be escalated and those involved could face personal identification and legal proceedings.
