Yuvraj Singh’s non-profit, YouWeCan, came under fire recently after a breast cancer awareness ad displayed in a Delhi Metro coach referred to breasts as “oranges.” The ad, featuring a young woman holding two oranges with a slogan urging viewers to “Check your oranges once a month,” sparked online outrage after a passenger shared a photo on social media platform X, labeling the campaign “shameful” and “embarrassing.”

The ad quickly went viral, with users criticizing YouWeCan’s approach to breast cancer awareness. The popular X account Confusedicius called out the ad, questioning how awareness could be raised without using the term “breasts.” Tagging Yuvraj Singh directly, the user demanded the campaign’s removal, asking, “Who makes these campaigns? Who approves them?”

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) also faced criticism for allowing the ad, with Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra joining the conversation. Moitra tweeted, “Breasts are not oranges. Hello, DMRC – that’s B-R-E-A-S-T-S, breasts. Say it aloud, please,” calling for more straightforward language in awareness campaigns.

Many social media users expressed disappointment with YouWeCan’s messaging, arguing that it trivializes a serious issue and may cause embarrassment rather than awareness. One user commented, “This is not how awareness is raised. It will only make people snigger and make women feel awkward.”

In response to the backlash, DMRC confirmed that the ad had been removed on October 23 at 7:45 pm after officials deemed the content inappropriate. DMRC reassured the public that immediate action was taken to address concerns raised by passengers and social media users.
