128.47 kg narcotics destroyed by Mumbai Customs Division-I

The Narcotics Destruction Committee constituted by the Mumbai Customs Department has destroyed the stock of narcotics weighing 128.47 kg on 19 July 2023. These included heroin (29.1 kg), cocaine (65.2 kg), MDMA (2 kg), ganja (32 kg), amphetamine (43 kg). The international market value of this stock is Rs 865 crore. The stockpile was incinerated at the Hazardous Waste Processing Storage and Disposal Center at Taloja in Navi Mumbai.
This is the second time this year that a large cache of narcotics has been destroyed in this way. Earlier on March 2, 2023, 61.585 kg of narcotics worth around Rs 240 crore were destroyed.
The narcotics have been seized by various agencies such as Postal Assessment Department (PAS), Special Investigation and Intelligence Branch (SIIB) and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI). The Mumbai Customs Department is committed to ensure strict enforcement of the Act against Illegal Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) to ensure a safe and healthy life for Indian citizens.
