On 10th October, a terrible gas leakage incident took place at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Jaltaran Talaav (swimming pool) in Kasarwadi.

As per further information shared by the Fire Department, on 10th October at 8:38 am, at the main PCMC fire station, over the phone, it was said that there is a gas leakage at the Kasarwadi swimming pool. 

Two fire engines from the main fire station and one fire engine from the Bhosari sub-fire station were immediately dispatched to the spot.

At the site of the incident, the chlorine air tank used for purifying the water of the swimming pool was corroded and it was found that the cylinder was leaking due to a small hole in the tank. Fire fighters used a breathing apparatus (breathing apparatus set) to close the hole of the chlorine cylinder and control the leakage.

Earlier, due to the leakage of chlorine gas, 4 lifeguards, 1 manager, 1 security guard, 1 technical staff working at the swimming pool area admitted the citizens to the YCM hospital as they were affected by the gas leakage and informed the police control room through the fire control room. A security “cordon off” was carried out.

A total of 29 employees from Pimpri main fire station and Bhosari fire station of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation have worked at the incident site. 

Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil, Deputy Commissioner (Fire) Vijay Kumar Thorat inspected, the said operation was carried out under the control of Rishikant Chipade, Fire Officer.
