A sexual assault case has been reported by a female engineer who works in an Information Technology (IT) company in Magarpatta City. When she complained to the police, the woman’s complaint was not accepted, therefore she filed an FIR directly with the National Commission for Women.

The Women’s Commission took the matter seriously and gave a direction to the police to act on it as soon as possible. As per the Commission’s order, the case was registered at Wakad police station under the Pimpri Chinchwad commissionerate. Since the incident occurred in the city of Magarpatta, the crime has been handed over to the Hadapsar police.

A complaint has been filed against a 30 year old IT engineer hailing from Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh.

The incident occurred between January 2021 to May 2023 at a society in the city of Magarpatta. The Hadapsar police stated that the victim is a resident of Nagpur and she has been residing in the city of Pune for the last couple of years. They both work at the same IT firm. While working together, they fell in love and started a relationship. The victim was lured into marriage by accused. He sexually harassed her repeatedly and made her have physical relations with him. However, she refused to marry him.

The Women’s Commission took cognizance of the matter and directed the police to register the case and conduct the investigation. Since the victim is residing in the Wakad locality, the Commission issued a notice to the Pimpri Chinchwad authorities.

The victim works as an IT engineer and the accused is her co-worker. The victim filed a complaint with the National Commission for Women and the Women’s Commission has registered a case and directed the police to investigate the matter. The case has been transferred to the Hadapsar police and the investigation is underway as per the statement given by Investigating Officer and Assistant Inspector Deepak Barge.
