2025 Land Rover Defender Launched in India with Powerful V8 Engine, Updated Features
Land Rover has launched the 2025 Defender SUV in India with key updates and a starting price of ₹1.39 crore (ex-showroom). The luxury SUV now offers a new V8 engine alongside the existing turbocharged petrol and diesel options. The V8 variants, priced ₹35 lakh higher than the entry-level model, are available in Defender 90, 110, and 130 versions.
The 2025 Defender renews competition in the luxury SUV segment, facing rivals like the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Jeep Wrangler, Volvo XC90, and Range Rover Velar.
The new V8 P425 5.0-litre petrol engine delivers 425 bhp and 610 Nm of torque. Additional options include 2.0-liter and 3.0-liter turbocharged petrol engines. The top-end variant, Octa, features a 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine producing 626 bhp and 750 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful Defender in India.
The cabin now boasts Windsor leather seats, 14-way heated and cooled front seats with memory, and climate-controlled second-row seats. Other highlights include an 11.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 3D surround camera, panoramic sunroof, Meridian sound system, and a center console refrigerator. The Defender 130 comes with captain chairs for easy third-row access.
Exterior updates include matrix LED headlights, a black contrast roof, 20-inch Satin Dark Grey alloy wheels, and a soft-close tail door. The Defender also gets advanced Terrain Response and Configurable Terrain Response features, along with Electronic Air Suspension and Adaptive Dynamics for superior off-road performance and ride comfort.
The refreshed Defender combines luxury, power, and versatility to cater to adventurous buyers.
