Updated Brezza nears launch with possible first-ever 6-speed manual gearbox and cabin upgrades.

Maruti Suzuki’s popular Brezza SUV has been spotted multiple times during testing as the launch of its 2026 facelift approaches.

While the upcoming model’s exterior does not appear to have dramatic changes, a closer look at recent test-mule interiors suggests a possible first-ever 6-speed manual gearbox in a Maruti vehicle in India — a notable shift from the traditional 5-speed gearboxes used across the brand’s petrol lineup.

Manual Transmission Highlight

Recent interior test footage reportedly shows a gear lever with a 6-speed pattern. If confirmed on the production car, this will be the first time Maruti introduces a 6-speed manual transmission in India. The added gear could help improve performance and fuel efficiency, especially important as stricter emission and efficiency norms like CAFE 3 loom on the horizon.

Traditionally, Maruti Suzuki has equipped models with 5-speed manuals across its petrol engines, from the small-capacity K10 to the larger K15 engines. A 6-speed manual would be a significant mechanical upgrade for the Brezza.

Exterior And Feature Expectations

Spy vehicles suggest that Maruti has kept the exterior design largely familiar, with no major styling overhaul. The front fascia, lighting elements, wheel design and body cladding appear similar to the current model, although subtle updates to the grille and bumpers could still be part of the facelift.

The biggest changes are expected inside the cabin:

  • A larger touchscreen infotainment system (potentially a 10.1–10.2-inch unit similar to the one in newer Maruti models) may replace the current 9-inch screen.
  • Slight revisions to the centre console and dashboard layout are likely.
  • Higher trims could also get features such as ventilated front seats and a powered driver’s seat.

S-CNG Practicality Update

Earlier prototypes of the Brezza facelift revealed that Maruti will adopt its new underfloor S-CNG layout, first showcased on the newly launched Victoris. By placing the CNG tank beneath the boot floor, this setup improves luggage space and practicality compared to conventional CNG designs.

Segment And Market Context

The Brezza competes in India’s high-volume sub-4-metre SUV segment, where it has been one of Maruti Suzuki’s best-selling products. Given this importance, the facelift is expected to be a significant update for buyers in a competitive space.

What’s Next

With multiple prototypes now spotted testing publicly and hints of key mechanical and interior upgrades emerging, the 2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift is expected to be launched soon. Official details on features, gearbox options, engine choices and pricing will be announced by Maruti Suzuki ahead of its market debut.
