3 A.M. Zepto Delivery Becomes Lifesaver, Helps Mumbai Woman Catch 6 A.M. Flight
Timing is everything when it comes to catching an early morning flight—and for one Mumbai family, a quick-commerce delivery made all the difference. A routine grocery order placed in the middle of the night unexpectedly turned into a lifesaving wake-up call, ensuring a woman did not miss her 6 a.m. departure.
The incident, which later gained attention on social media, was shared by Mumbai resident Rishabh Agarwal on LinkedIn. His sister had an early morning flight scheduled for 6 a.m. and had requested their mother to wake her at 3 a.m. However, around 3:15 a.m., the family realized that her phone had switched off, creating a risk that she might oversleep.
Faced with the situation, Rishabh had two options. He could travel nearly 40 minutes from Parel to Powai at that hour to wake her himself, or think of a faster alternative. Choosing the latter, he came up with an unconventional solution. At 3:20 a.m., he placed a grocery order on Zepto and added a special instruction for the delivery partner to ring the doorbell and ensure his sister woke up.
The delivery partner, identified as Vikas, arrived within just 10 minutes—by 3:30 a.m. Going beyond a standard delivery, he stayed connected with the family on a phone call for nearly 10 minutes to confirm that the woman had indeed woken up.
After Rishabh’s post went viral, senior officials from Zepto responded to the story. Chief Brand Officer Chandan Mendiratta reacted with humor, remarking that while the company delivers alarm clocks, they never expected to become one. Chief Operating Officer Vikas Sharma also praised the delivery partner for exceeding expectations and stepping beyond his formal responsibilities. Other company representatives described the incident as a reflection of the platform’s reliability and the dedication of its team.
Social media users widely applauded the quick thinking and the delivery partner’s efforts. Many pointed out that such instances highlight how rapid delivery services can prove valuable in urgent or unusual situations. Several commenters described it as a smart workaround that ultimately prevented a travel mishap.
More than just a viral anecdote, the episode underscores how a simple act—carried out at the right moment—can have a significant impact. Thanks to a 3 a.m. grocery order and a committed delivery partner, a stressful situation was resolved, and a journey began on schedule.
