Nursing students at Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) in Bengaluru were in for a surprise when they received their exam results, as many found themselves scoring more than the maximum marks. During the second semester examination of B.Sc Nursing held in January, several students reported receiving scores of 310 and 315 out of the maximum of 300 marks.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that the university had mistakenly included internal assessment marks for a subsidiary subject in the final tally, resulting in inflated scores for some students. As soon as this error was brought to the university’s attention, the results were withdrawn, and revised marks were issued.

While some students experienced a drop in their total marks after the correction, the grading and pass/fail status remained unchanged. RGUHS registrar (evaluation), Riyaz Basha clarified that despite the adjustment in total marks, the final outcome of the results remained consistent.

Basha also noted that adjustments were made to address other discrepancies resulting from the transition from an annual to a semester system.
