33rd Pune festival cancelled due to Covid19 pandemic

In view of the current situation arising out of the outbreak of Covid-19 Corona Virus, the 33rd Pune Festival to be organised from September 10 to September 19, 2021 during Ganeshotsav has been cancelled. The installation and immersion of Pune Festival’s Ganesha will take place in a ritualistic manner.

The Pune Festival has always extended a helping hand in times of natural calamities like floods, droughts and earthquakes. The recent floods caused by heavy rains in Konkan and Western Maharashtra have caused great loss of life and property.

Started with the inspiration of Lokmantya Tilak, the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav reached to the nook and corner of Maharashtra. Seeking inspiration from it, the Pune Festival, a Confluence of Music, Dance, Drama, Art, Vocal, Instruments, Sports and Culture, is jointly organised by Pune Festival Committee, Puneites citizens; Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation and Tourism Department of Government of India. The Pune Festival has taken the Pune city on the global tourism map. 

The Pune Festival, being celebrated continuously for 10 days and for 31 years without break is considered to be the biggest Cultural Festival in India.
