350 ‘Pen and Ink’ paintings by Anand Jog to be exhibited in ‘Keep Art Alive’ exhibition

Pune, April 17, 2023: In a first, 350 original paintings created by noted real-estate developer Anand Jog using ‘Pen and Ink’ medium will be exhibited in the ‘Keep Art Alive’ exhibition to be held from April 21-23, 2023 at the Balgandharva Art Gallery off J M Road in Shivajinagar.

The timings of the solo exhibition are from 10.30 AM to 7.30 PM on all the three days and entry to the exhibition is free. The exhibition will be inaugurated by MIT World Peace University founder Dr Vishwanath Karad on April 21 at 10 AM.

The unique feature is that this is the first instance where more than 350 original paintings drawn by a single artist using a single medium will be displayed in one exhibition.

“This is my seventh exhibition. My first exhibition was held in 2004 and since then I have had five exhibitions, including one at Dubai in 2008 and one in London in 2014. This is a solo exhibition and the black-white paintings are created using stippling and line-work technique,” said Anand Jog.

Anand Jog had used various mediums like acrylic, water-colors, charcoal for the paintings displayed in his earlier exhibitions, but this time he has focused on using paintings created using ‘pen and ink’ as he has a penchant for the medium.

Anand Jog, who had a keen interest in paintings since his school days, said paintings of Lord Ganesh, other Lords, birds, animals, still objects, flowers, different types of leaves, and other object-based paintings, will be showcased in the exhibition, which will be visual treat for art-lovers.  

“I have used 250 types of different pens, procured from across the globe, with varying point-sizes and thicknesses, to create these paintings. The detailing and styling have been conceptualized by me. These paintings have been made on paper and canvas. The paintings displayed are created since 2015-16, while a chunk of them have been created during the lockdown period,” elaborates Anand Jog.

Anand Jog said would approach the Guinness World Record for the exhibition’s entry as the single largest exhibition by a single artist using a single-medium.

“There was one incident which rejuvenated my love for paintings. On a visit to a restaurant in 2002, I saw a painting by Mario Miranda, which was displayed. I recreated that painting on a small-scale and then also recreated other paintings of Miranda. Since then, I have continued my passion for paintings. I got lessons from artist DS Khatavkar and to showcase my skills to him, my first painting exhibition was organized,” Jog said.  

“The funds generated from the earlier exhibitions were donated to the NGOs,” he signed off.
