3,686 consumers benefit from MSEDCL’s amnesty scheme for permanently disconnected connections

Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) had launched an amnesty scheme for those consumers who could not pay their bills due to some reasons. But, over 43,345 consumers took advantage of the scheme and got their connections reactivated. MSEDCL offered a waiver in interest on bill and penalty too.

During the Covid19 lockdown, many consumers could not pay their bills on time. And many consumers faced severe difficulty as the bill amount piled up. But to offer some relief to such consumers, Vilasrao Deshmukh Abhay Yojana was launched in which waiving interest and penalty on the bills was agreed to offer. The scheme ended on December 31, 2022 wherein the consumers paid the basic bill amount.

A total of 30,571 consumers benefited from the scheme. 14505 consumers are from Konkan division, 7960 in Aurangabad and 3686 from Pune division got their connections activated.

Rs 95.71 crores were recovered from these consumers while the scheme was implemented.
