Pune: Known for its rich food culture, Pune is home to several iconic eateries that have stood the test of time. One such place is Sonal Snacks, located in Kapadganj Peth, which has been serving its famous bread patties for over 51 years.
The journey began in 1974 when the Suryavanshi family started selling snacks from a small handcart. After years of hardwork and dedication, they established their shop under the name Sonal Snacks in 1990. Interestingly, the wada behind the shop is around 90 years old, adding a touch of heritage to the place.
Today, the business is managed by the second generation, who have carefully preserved the original taste and quality. Their signature bread patties remain the highlight—crispy on the outside, filled with flavorful potato stuffing, and loved by generations of Punekars.
Despite the rise of modern fast food, the shop continues to attract a steady crowd of food lovers who return again and again for the same authentic taste.
“We have been running this business honestly for over five decades. Even today, people come here not just for food, but for the nostalgic experience,” said Shop owner.
More than just a snack shop, Sonal Snacks stands as a symbol of Pune’s traditional food heritage, keeping its legacy alive with every bite.
