Nine private schools in the city have received ‘show cause’ letters from the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) for failing to validate Aadhaar for students on waiting lists in the Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE) and Systematic Administrative Reforms for Achieving & Learning by Students (SARAL) systems, despite multiple written and verbal requests for clarification.

Additionally, according to Sangita Bangar, the administration officer, a hearing has been scheduled for April 29, 2024, to discuss potential disciplinary action against these schools.

The information on the UDISE system is considered as the basis for implementing various schemes of the central and state governments. In this context, the state’s chief secretary for school education, during the April 22, 2024 review meeting, voiced his dissatisfaction with senior Education Department officials for failing to complete the Aadhaar validity. In Pimpri-Chinchwad city, an evaluation of the validity of student Aadhaar was carried out in the UDISE and SARAL systems of private schools. According to the attached list of all the kids enrolled in the UDISE system by the nine private schools in the city, it was evident that the process of verifying each student’s Aadhaar is still ongoing.

These include Elpro International School-Chinchwad, Orchid International School-Tathawade, Alnoor English Medium School, Euro School Wakad, Akshara International School-Punavale, Rogers English School-Kalevadi, Sadhu Vaswani International School-Pimpri, Alphonso High School Kalewadi, Naval International-Sambajinagar.

Additionally, the headmaster or the principal of the involved school must be present at the hearing, which is scheduled for April 29 at 11 a.m., at the Municipal Corporation’s Education Department. The government approval letter, the deputy director approval letter, the first approval letter, and the self-approval must be brought with the school. If the school fails to show up for this hearing or if the disclosures they have received are deemed insufficient, they will be immediately subject to the proper disciplinary action. Furthermore, the proposal for the school’s de-recognition would be sent to the Department of Deputy Director of Education, Pune.
