The Ministry of Education in India has set the wheels in motion for a significant shift in the CBSE board examination system.
As per the New Curriculum Framework (NCF) introduced last year, students can expect to sit for board exams twice a year starting from the academic session of 2025-26. This move aims to provide students with ample time and opportunities to showcase their abilities and secure their best possible scores.

The initiative comes as a response to the evolving educational landscape, emphasizing flexibility and student-centric approaches. Under the new system, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will collaborate closely with schools and stakeholders to ensure a seamless transition.

To facilitate this transition, the Ministry of Education has tasked the CBSE with devising logistical arrangements for conducting biannual board exams. The board is currently deliberating on how to integrate this new schedule into the academic calendar without disrupting the undergraduate admission process.

Reports indicate that consultations will be held next month, wherein school principals will provide insights and feedback on implementing the biannual examination system. This collaborative effort underscores the importance of engaging stakeholders in shaping educational policies that cater to the diverse needs of students.
