Residents of Popular Heights society in Koregaon Park are grappling with severe garbage dumping issues outside their gate, primarily caused by people from a nearby slum area.

Despite efforts to maintain cleanliness within their premises, the area outside the society gate has become an unsightly mess due to persistent trash dumping.

The dumped waste includes food scraps, plastic, and other non-biodegradable materials. This littering problem is creating an unpleasant environment with serious health risks, particularly to children and the elderly residents. The stench from the garbage has attracted pigs and dogs to the area, further exacerbating the problem.

Notably, the area where the garbage is dumped is situated next to a Crematorium entrance and across from the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Memorial Hall. A notice board installed by Pune Mahanagarpalika clearly states that garbage disposal is prohibited in this location and warns of fines for violators. Additionally, a nearby CCTV camera is supposed to monitor and deter illegal dumping.

Despite these measures, dumping continues unabated, leaving the area dirty and unhygienic. Residents are calling for increased media attention to address this persistent issue.
