Honda recently showcased its new car, the Honda Step WGN, at a motor show. Car enthusiasts are comparing this new model to the popular Maruti Wagon R, with the new car being dubbed as the luxury version of the Wagon R.
The Maruti Wagon R, starting at ₹6.70 lakhs on-road, is a 5-seater car that offers a mileage of 23.56 kmpl on petrol and 34.05 km/kg on CNG. It comes with engine options ranging from 998cc to 1197cc, providing a power output of 89bhp and a torque of 113Nm. The top model is priced at ₹8.92 lakhs on-road and features manual and automatic transmission, rear parking sensors, alloy wheels, a touchscreen infotainment system, anti-lock braking system, and six airbags.
On the other hand, the Honda Step WGN is a multipurpose vehicle designed to accommodate up to eight passengers. It boasts large leg and head space and has dimensions of 4.69mm in length and 1.93mm in height. The car will be available with two engine options: 1496cc and 2354cc, and offers both all-wheel drive and two-wheel drive configurations. The Step WGN provides seating options for five or eight passengers and has a design reminiscent of the Toyota Innova.
Originally launched in India in 1998, the Honda Step WGN was discontinued a few years ago, but there are discussions about its return with a new version, potentially featuring a BS6 engine.
