Looking to add a unique twist to your vrat feast? Try this super easy and scrumptious Mango Barfi, made with mangoes, makhana, nuts, and milk. Perfect for the festive season and vrat-friendly, this recipe will make your celebrations even sweeter.
Ingredients:
– 2 ripe mangoes
– 1 liter milk
– ¼ cup milk powder
– 150 grams makhana (fox nuts)
– ½ cup ghee
– ½ cup assorted nuts
– ½ cup raisins
– 7 saffron strands
– ½ tsp cardamom powder
– ½ cup sugar
Instructions:
1. Prepare Mangoes: Wash and peel the mangoes. Chop them into small pieces and blend them with sugar to create a smooth, lump-free paste.
2. Roast Ingredients: In a pan, heat ghee and roast the makhana until golden. Grind the roasted makhana into a fine powder. In the same ghee, roast the assorted nuts, then crush and set them aside.
3. Cook Milk Mixture: In a separate pan, bring the milk to a boil and simmer, stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly. Add milk powder, makhana powder, cardamom powder, and saffron strands to the milk. Turn off the heat.
4. Combine Ingredients: Mix the mango paste and crushed nuts into the thickened milk mixture. Heat again to evaporate excess moisture.
5. Set and Cut: Pour the mixture into a ghee-greased tray and refrigerate until firm. Once set, cut into desired shapes.
