Weather Update: Red Alert Issued In Pune After Mumbai; Heavy Rains With Thunderstorms Expected
Pune, August 3 —Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has called on residents living along riverbanks to remain vigilant due to heavy rainfall in the catchment areas. All dams in the Khadakwasla chain are full, leading to a discharge of 27,016 cusecs from Khadakwasla Dam and 27,609 cusecs from Mula Dam into their respective riverbeds. The weather department has forecasted more intense rainfall, potentially increasing discharge levels.
Pawar advises residents in areas such as Dattawadi, Patil Estate, Yerwada, Shivaji Nagar Court area, and other low-lying regions to stay alert. He emphasizes the need to avoid riverbeds and refrain from parking vehicles in these areas. The district administration has made necessary arrangements and is prepared to deploy NDRF and military units if needed. Residents are urged to cooperate with authorities and heed any evacuation orders.
