Pune: Gas Leak Contained After Excavation Work Causes Disruption To MNGL Line On NIBM Road in Kondhwa
Kondhwa, August 7, 2024: At around 1:23 AM, while excavation work was underway in front of Cloud Nine at Nine Hill Society, a gas pipeline operated by MNGL was accidentally damaged by a JCB machine. This led to a significant gas leak in the area. Emergency services were promptly dispatched, and MNGL gas line personnel were called to the scene. The team quickly took action, tapping the gas line and shutting it off to prevent any further danger. Following the incident, MNGL began repairing the damaged gas line.
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Kailash Shinde, fire official, Kondhwa Fire Station said that the call was received at around 1 AM. The MNGL authorities were also called in to stop the supply. They held emergency operations to contain the spread and ensure that the supply was shut off for a brief period to avert any major mishap. Furthermore, the fire officials were present to handle any untoward incident. Fortunately, the MNGL authorities’ promptness saved major mishap and soon the road work began again.
The swift response by both the emergency services and MNGL personnel ensured that the situation was brought under control without any major incidents. The gas leak was contained, and repair work is currently underway to restore normalcy in the area.
