Pune, 6 August 2024: District Collector and District Election Officer Dr. Suhas Diwase has released the draft voter list as part of the Election Commission of India’s special brief revision program. Citizens are encouraged to submit their claims and objections by August 20, 2024. The release event was attended by Sub-Divisional Election Officer Meenal Kalskar, Tehsildar Sheetal Mule, Rahul Sarang, and representatives from various political parties.

Dr. Diwase stated that claims and objections submitted by citizens will be processed by voter registration officials by August 29. During the claim and objection period, special drives will be conducted on public holidays, August 10, 11, 17, and 18. Voters should verify if their names are listed in the draft voter list. The final voter list will be published on August 30, 2024. Names can be added to the voter list up to ten days before filing nominations for the assembly elections.

As part of the ongoing special brief revision campaign, some voters will experience changes in their polling centers due to the process of equalizing the number of voters at 662 polling centers. Affected voters will be assigned to other polling centers within the same building. Political party representatives are requested to inform voters of these changes.

Voters with old MT series identification cards from outside the district who do not have their names in the district’s voter list are urged to participate in the special brief revision program. Dr. Divekar advised them to make necessary corrections to their voter details and update their voter IDs.

Kalaskar noted that the draft voter list is available at the Shirname Sabhagruh, Agricultural College, Pune, and political party representatives are encouraged to review it. She also recommended that political party representatives compare the final list for the Lok Sabha elections with the draft list released today.

For submitting claims and objections, voters can use the Voter Helpline app or website, or submit them to polling center officials. Offline submissions will be limited to five applications per person per day. The process to remove deceased voters’ names from the list is underway, and relatives of deceased individuals and political party representatives are urged to actively participate and cooperate.

The draft voter list includes a total of 8,417 polling centers with 8,43,729 voters in the district, comprising 4,43,344 men, 4,03,640 women, and 745 third-gender voters, as informed by Mrs. Kalskar.

Various suggestions were also made by political party representatives during the event.
