In Pimple Saudagar, resident Rama Tiwari has formed a unique bond with local parrots, including Indian RingNeck and Alexandrine species. In an interview with Pune Pulse, Rama explained how she began caring for these birds. Noticing that colorful parrots would frequently perch on electric wires in her area, she decided to place food out for them. Initially, sparrows were the primary visitors, but after some time, the parrots started to arrive.

Building trust with the parrots was a gradual process, but Rama’s consistent efforts—offering peanuts and fruits—eventually won them over. The parrots, initially coming alone, began bringing their young ones along, turning her balcony into their safe haven.

When nearby trees, which the Alexandrine parrots used for perching, were cut down, the birds started visiting Rama’s balcony more frequently. They became quite friendly, and Rama even taught them to talk, allowing them to engage in conversations with her.

Three years later, these parrots have become an endearing part of Rama’s life. She eagerly anticipates their visits, cherishing the moments of interaction and companionship with her feathered friends.
