The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a Yellow Alert for Vidarbha and South Maharashtra. As a result, light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and lightning are expected to increase in these areas, including Pune city. Since the first week of August, Maharashtra has experienced a decline in rainfall, with only sporadic showers and cloud cover. This has led to a rise in temperatures across Vidarbha, central Maharashtra, and western Maharashtra. Along the coastal regions, increased humidity and heat have caused discomfort.

A low-pressure area in the northwest Bay of Bengal and surrounding regions is expected to intensify into a Well-Marked Low (WML) over the next 48 hours. This system is likely to move west-northwestward across West Bengal, Jharkhand, northern Odisha, southern Chhattisgarh, and southeastern Vidarbha in the coming days.

The weather department has indicated that these hot conditions will continue to be problematic over the next few days. Rainfall is expected to return to Vidarbha and other affected regions, bringing relief from the prolonged dry spell. According to the latest forecast, there is a possibility of moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds in various districts of Vidarbha within the next 24 hours.
