Pune: Jyotirvidya Parisanstha To Host Exhibition On India’s Contributions To Astronomy
Jyotirvidya Parisanstha (JVP), a renowned association of amateur astronomers based in Pune, is set to organize an exhibition titled “India’s Footprints in Astronomy.” The event will take place from August 22 to 25, 2024, at the Yashawantrao Chavan NatyaGruha Art Gallery in Kothrud, Pune, from 10 AM to 8 PM daily.
The exhibition will showcase India’s past, present, and future contributions to astronomy, with a special focus on the country’s astronomical observatories operating across various wavelengths. The event aims to highlight the significant role India has played in the field of astronomy and its ongoing advancements.
JVP, founded on August 22, 1944, by prominent citizens of Pune, has been instrumental in promoting astronomy and scientific education. As the first association of its kind in India, JVP has a long-standing history of fostering public interest in astronomy. The organization is also known for hosting the All India Amateur Astronomers Meet in 1991 and the All India Messier Marathon in 2012.
