Police Crackdown On Fake Clothing Sales Ahead Of Diwali In Pune

Ahead of the Diwali festival, Pune Crime Branch’s Unit 6 took action against a shop selling counterfeit clothes. On 20/10/2024, an authorized officer of a well-known company filed a complaint that counterfeit or copyright-infringing clothes were being sold at Sai Brand Home in Kesanand Phata, Wagholi, Pune. Acting on this information, under the orders of the Deputy Commissioner of Crime Branch, Pune City, the police conducted a raid at the location.
The accused, identified as Gaurav Satyavan Narwade, age 27, resident of Wagholi, Shirur Taluka, Pune, was found selling counterfeit branded clothes. During the operation, the police seized fake goods (shirts) worth ₹4,94,650 from his store and warehouse. A case has been registered at Lonikand Police Station under FIR No. 990/2024 under Sections 51 and 63 of the Copyright Act, 1957.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Police Commissioner (Crime) Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police Nikhil Pingale, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajendra Mulik. The team was led by Police Inspector Ajay Waghmare, Police Inspector Wahed Pathan, and Sub-Inspector Madan Kamble, with officers from both Unit 4 and Unit 6.
