Actor Pankaj Tripathi’s eco-conscious choices create a simple, old-school lifestyle for the family.

Mridula Tripathi, wife of renowned Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi, recently revealed that her husband’s simple, environmentally-conscious choices shape their daily life—starting with the absence of a microwave. In an interview on the YouTube channel Conversations With Atul, Mridula shared her husband’s resistance to common conveniences, explaining, “We still don’t have a microwave… He believes they emit waves that are harmful. If we have to heat food, we do it on the stove. No microwaves.” She added that she and Pankaj have even debated the need for an air conditioner, settling on the stove and natural ventilation despite the discomfort at times.

Beyond home appliances, Mridula recalled adjusting to other habits of Pankaj’s, including his insistence on avoiding plastic containers. The couple had heated discussions about household needs, with Mridula quipping that they “couldn’t live off just one type of daal and rice.” Although Pankaj’s fame has grown, Mridula humorously noted that she keeps him grounded despite his occasional jokes about being a star.

The conversation also delved into the couple’s love story and the challenges they faced when marrying. Coming from a different social background, Mridula faced disapproval from her mother-in-law, who struggled with the class difference, especially since Mridula’s sister had already married into Pankaj’s family. She shared that, although the couple was eventually accepted, her mother-in-law has yet to fully accept her due to longstanding cultural beliefs. “There was a tehelka, a bawaal (a ruckus)… My mother-in-law hasn’t accepted me to this day,” Mridula revealed.

Despite early obstacles, the couple married in 2004, with their love story dating back to school. Now, they are settled with a daughter, having learned to navigate their unique challenges and build a fulfilling life together.
