Chinchwad: “In today’s world, I want to see my sister become a successful and independent woman. Education is the first step on that path. I want her to study in the field she loves, get a good job, or start her own business. As her brother, it’s my duty to support her,” said Shankar Jagtap, the Mahayuti candidate from the BJP, Shiv Sena, NCP, and RPI (Athawale) alliance, on Sunday.

On the occasion of Bhai Dooj, many women from the Chinchwad Assembly constituency welcomed Jagtap with a traditional ceremony. In return, he expressed his gratitude and pledged to help them on their path to independence.

During his visit, Jagtap met former women corporators and local residents, emphasizing his commitment to removing obstacles to women’s progress.

He also highlighted that financial independence is key to empowerment. “Whether you choose a job, business, or self-employment, you should have the freedom to follow your dreams. You deserve safety at work, equal pay, and a life of dignity,” he assured.

As a symbolic Bhai Dooj gift, Jagtap pledged his commitment to women’s empowerment. “Accept this promise from me, and then pray for my success as I work to fulfill it,” he said, reaching out emotionally to the women of Chinchwad.
