As the Pune Municipal Corporation General Election 2026 approaches, voters are being urged to support a vision that prioritises holistic and sustainable development.
On 15 January 2026, residents of Wanowrie–Salunke Vihar will cast their votes to elect representatives who pledge accountable leadership and people-centric development. Contesting from Ward 18 are Adv. Kedari Sahil Shivaji, Jagtap Ratnaprabha Sudam, Jambhulkar Shamika Praful, and Jagtap Prashant Sudam, the official candidates of the Indian National Congress – Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) Alliance.
The candidates have outlined an extensive development roadmap aimed at addressing long-pending civic issues while preparing the ward for future growth.
KEY COMMITMENTS FOR WARD 18
SAFETY AND LAW ENFORCEMENT
- Complete CCTV surveillance across Wanowrie to curb criminal activity and enhance women’s safety
- Relocation of Wanowrie Police Station to Samvidhan Chowk for improved accessibility
- Introduction of mobile police patrol units to ensure a molestation-free, theft-free and silence-zone ward
- Launch of an emergency helpline for women & senior citizens
GREEN SPACES AND INFRASTRUCTURE
- Development of a Biodiversity Park in the forest area
- Development of all reserved plots within the ward
- Construction of a 9-acre international-standard sports stadium at Survey No. 65, Samvidhan Chowk
- Creation of a parking facility and EV charging station over 3 acres at the same site
WATER, ENVIRONMENT AND CLEANLINESS
- Making high-capacity water tanks in NIBM and Ghorpadi fully operational to resolve water scarcity
- Ensuring 12-hour daily water supply (morning and evening), making the ward tanker-free
- Beautification and deodorisation of the NIBM–Wanowrie–Sopanbaug nullah
- Creation of Zero Garbage Spots to give the ward a cleaner identity
- Closure or replacement of the waste processing project causing stench in surrounding localities
EMPLOYMENT, YOUTH AND SOCIAL WELFARE
- Establishment of a Women’s Udyog Bhavan to generate employment
- Setting up a competitive exam and career training centre for MPSC, UPSC, job and business-oriented skills
- Opening of recreation, assistance and guidance centres for senior citizens, ex-servicemen and retired citizens
- Launch of five crèches (day-care centres) to provide safe, home-like care for children
TRAFFIC AND MOBILITY
- Making Wanowrie–Salunke Vihar traffic-free with traffic wardens at major junctions
- Installation of AI-enabled traffic signal systems wherever feasible
- Underpass at Bakers Point Chowk to ease congestion in the NIBM area
Construction of flyovers or grade separators at:
- 93 Avenue Chowk Kalubai Mandir Chowk
- Ramtekdi Corner
- Development of:
- Foot overbridge with escalators and lifts at
- Fatimanagar Chowk
- Overbridge between ABC Farm Chowk and
- Shamrao Vitthal Bank
FUTURE CONNECTIVITY
- Persistent follow-up for the Solapur Road Metro project
- Advocacy for the Monorail project passing through Wanowrie
