Pune Businessman Kidnapped and Killed Over Rs 2 Crore Ransom Demand

15-Year-Old Caretaker Arrested Within 12 Hours For Robbing, Harassing Elderly Pune Resident
Pune: A 70-year-old businessman, Vitthal Sakharam Polekar, was abducted and murdered by local gangsters after refusing to pay a ransom of Rs 2 crore or hand over a Jaguar SUV, police revealed on Saturday.
Polekar, a government contractor and resident of Polekar Wadi near Sinhagad Fort, was targeted by Yogesh alias Babu Kisan Bhame, a known gangster from Donje village, and members of the “B B Boys” gang.
According to authorities, the incident unfolded on November 14 when Polekar went for his routine morning walk. He was allegedly abducted by Bhame and his aides. Following his disappearance, Polekar’s daughter Sonali filed a kidnapping complaint at the Haveli police station, naming Bhame as a suspect.
Kidnapping and Investigation
Police launched a search operation, tracking Bhame and his gang. During the investigation, three suspects were apprehended—one in Pune and two in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The interrogation of the accused led police to gruesome evidence: human remains, believed to be Polekar’s, were discovered in the Khadakwasla dam backwaters at Osade village.
The recovered body parts have been sent for DNA testing to confirm the identity. Meanwhile, police continue searching for another gang member involved in the crime.
Murder Charges Added
Authorities of Pune Rural Police, confirmed that murder charges are being added to the FIR. The case highlights the ruthless actions of local gangs and the challenges of dealing with ransom-related crimes.
Authorities are intensifying efforts to locate the remaining suspect and ensure justice for Polekar’s family.
