Symbiosis International University (SIU) celebrated the inauguration of its first overseas campus in Dubai with a grand ceremony held at the Hilton Hotel. The event was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahyan, UAE’s Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, and Dr. S. Jaishankar, India’s Minister of External Affairs.

The occasion drew a distinguished audience, including UAE-based consul generals, prominent industrialists, leading media professionals, and over 1,000 Symbiosis alumni holding leadership positions in the UAE.

Launched in September, the SIU Dubai campus began operations with over 100 students, becoming the first Indian university in Dubai to secure full accreditation and licensing from the UAE’s Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA), Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), and Ministry of Education (MOE).

This milestone positions SIU as a leader in Indian higher education abroad and strengthens its role as a bridge between India and the UAE. The Dubai campus aligns with the emirate’s D33 agenda and Education 33 strategy, aiming to equip students with globally recognized education and prepare them for a dynamic workforce.

The campus offers a range of accredited programs, including a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting and Finance, Master of Business Administration (MBA), Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) with specializations in AI and Data Science, and Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communication.

In his keynote speech, Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak praised the initiative as a milestone in UAE-India cooperation. “This branch sets a new standard for academic innovation, reflecting a shared vision of global education in a multicultural environment. It will positively impact the UAE’s higher education sector by offering advanced programs aligned with global market needs,” he said.

Dr. S. Jaishankar commended SIU’s achievement, stating, “The Dubai campus is a proud moment for Symbiosis and Indian higher education. It represents India’s commitment to fostering global talent and deepening educational and cultural ties between India and the UAE. Symbiosis has always exemplified knowledge-sharing and cultural understanding, making this campus a symbol of progress in international education.”

The event was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) S.B. Mujumdar, Founder and President of Symbiosis and Chancellor of SIU, alongside other dignitaries, including Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Pro-Chancellor, Dr. R. Raman, Vice-Chancellor, and Dr. Rajiv Yeravdekar, Provost, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, SIU.
