Pune Tops In State Excise Seizures During Election Code Of Conduct: District Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase

Pune, November 22: During the Assembly election code of conduct period, Pune district recorded the highest state excise seizures in Maharashtra, amounting to over ₹7.63 crore, according to District Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase. The district accounted for 25% of all seizures across the state, with Dr. Diwase commending Pune State Excise Superintendent Charansingh Rajput for exemplary efforts.
Under the guidance of State Excise Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryavanshi and Collector Dr. Diwase, special teams were formed starting October 15, 2024. These teams registered 1,100 offenses, arrested 1,042 individuals, and seized 234 vehicles, alongside liquor and production materials.
The seized items included 3,951 BL of beer, 4,498 BL of country liquor, 4,052 BL of domestic foreign liquor, 233 BL of Goa-sourced foreign liquor, and 115,564 BL of illicit country liquor, among other materials.
The enforcement drive was led by Superintendent Charansingh Rajput under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Sagar Dhomkar and Assistant Commissioner Prasad Surve. Actions targeted illicit liquor production, transportation, and sales at taverns and illegal toddy shops.
