Pune Schools Closed on July 7 as Collector Declares Holiday Across PMC, PCMC and Nine Talukas Amid Red Alert
Pune, July 6: Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi has declared a holiday for all schools and Anganwadis across the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), and nine talukas of the district on Tuesday, July 7, following the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Red Alert for heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.
The order has been issued as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students in view of the continuing spell of intense rainfall across the district.
The holiday will be applicable in the jurisdictions of PMC, PCMC, Maval, Mulshi, Bhor, Rajgad, Junnar, Ambegaon, Khed, and Haveli.
The closure covers all primary, secondary and higher secondary schools, including Zilla Parishad schools, government and municipal schools, government Ashram schools, private aided and unaided schools, English-medium schools, as well as all Anganwadis.
Despite the closure for students, the district administration has directed all headmasters, teaching staff, and non-teaching staff to report to their respective schools during regular working hours. Officials said staff members may be assigned disaster management and emergency-related duties under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act, if required.
Meanwhile, the district administration has appealed to citizens to remain alert, avoid unnecessary travel unless essential, and strictly follow advisories issued by the authorities until weather conditions improve.
