Maharashtra: Fire Breaks Out During Aarti as Gulal Ignites, Injuring Independent Candidate Shivaji Patil
Independent candidate Shivaji Patil, who won the Chandgad Assembly seat, was injured in a fire incident on Saturday during his victory celebration. The mishap occurred in Mahagaon when women performing his ‘aarti’ accidentally spilled a large amount of gulal onto the thali, leading to a blaze. Several women were also injured.
Patil defeated Nationalist Congress Party’s Rajesh Patil by 24,134 votes. The Chandgad constituency is part of the Kolhapur Lok Sabha seat, which includes five other Assembly segments: Radhanagari, Kagal, Kolhapur South, Karvir, and Kolhapur North. Rajesh Patil had won the seat in the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections.
