Pune RTO Cracks Down On Reckless Drivers, Takes Action Against 14,058 MotoristsÂ

In a bid to curb reckless driving on highways, the Pune RTO’s Flying Squad has taken penal action against 14,058 motorists for violating traffic rules. The action was taken on national and state highways in the Pune area, with 6,467 operations conducted on state highways and 7,591 on national highways.
The motorists were penalized for violating various traffic rules, including overspeeding, overloading, lane cutting, drunk driving, mobile phone usage while driving, not wearing seat belts, and using fancy number plates. Additionally, actions were taken against drivers for unauthorized parking, no-entry violations, overdue taxes, and vehicles without tail lights, reflectors, or fitness certificates.
The Pune RTO has been actively working to reduce reckless driving on highways. From January to September 2024, the team took action against 14,058 unruly drivers. The RTO also took action against drivers on highways like the Expressway, Pune-Mumbai Pune Old Highway, Pune-Kolhapur, Pune-Nagar Road, and Pune-Solapur Road.
In the same period, the Pune RTO office issued 68,579 permanent driving licenses and distributed 2,09,777 raw licenses. The raw licenses were issued through examinations conducted at the Sangam Bridge office of Pune RTO, while permanent licenses were issued after actual driving tests at Alandi Road and IDTR.
