A dramatic chase unfolded in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh when a tempo driver snatched a groom’s garland and sped away. The incident, captured on video, has gone viral on social media, leaving people amused.
The groom, Dev Kumar, was in the middle of his wedding procession when the tempo driver grabbed the garland and fled. Without hesitation, Kumar left the baarat, hopped on a bike, and chased the tempo down the highway.
In the video, Kumar can be seen jumping off the bike, climbing onto the moving tempo, and entering it through the window. He then stopped the vehicle and forced the driver out. Kumar, joined by others from his wedding party, thrashed the driver.
The tempo driver pleaded for forgiveness, claiming he had taken the garland “by mistake.” The unusual sequence of events sparked laughter and creative comments online.
“He wanted to impress his new bride, it seems,” one user joked. Another quipped, “We found the new hero for Dhoom 4,” while others compared the scene to Hollywood action movies.
Interestingly, Meerut has seen other wedding-related clashes recently. Recently, a dispute between two groups at a wedding in the Lisari Gate area escalated into a clash.
Meerut Police denied reports of firing in this case, saying, “No such fact has emerged during the investigation.” A case has been registered based on a complaint, they added in a video statement.
The garland-snatching drama, however, continues to entertain people across social media platforms.
