Passengers on these flights received notifications about the cancellations, with the airline citing safety concerns due to the ongoing cyclone. IndiGo also suspended all arrival and departure operations at Chennai Airport until weather conditions improve.
The airline issued a statement on X (formerly Twitter):
“IndiGo airlines @IndiGo6E has temporarily suspended all arrival and departure flight operations at Chennai Airport due to adverse weather conditions. Flight operations will resume once the weather improves, prioritizing the safety of passengers and crew. Passengers are advised to check flight status for real-time updates.”
Additionally, IndiGo shared a travel advisory urging passengers to check their flight status via their official website.
Passenger Experiences and Alternative Arrangements
Passengers, including those from Pune, expressed frustration over the unexpected cancellations. A Pune-based traveler shared his predicament:“I was scheduled to return from Chennai for work but received a cancellation notification while en route to the airport. With no immediate options, I’ve had to book a hotel until flights resume.”
Another traveler from Chandigarh faced a similar situation and planned to stay in Chennai until operations normalize.

Flights departing from Pune to Chennai have also been affected:
- IndiGo flight 6E 625, scheduled to depart Pune at 10:05 AM, was canceled.
- Air India Express flight IX 2660, set to leave at 11:15 PM, is currently listed as on-time. However, airline staff cautioned that the schedule could change based on evolving weather conditions.
An Air India Express representative stated:
“We will provide confirmed updates by 5 PM, depending on the situation.”
